Starter
Application and Safety Notes
If assembly work is performed on starter, note the following:
• Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.
• Disconnect the battery. Refer to => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment ] Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment or => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Batteries In Luggage Compartment ] Disconnecting and Connecting Batteries In Luggage Compartment.
Follow the procedure in the Repair Information when disconnecting and connecting the battery. DTC Recognition and Display
For fault-finding, use the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A) , and the function "Guided fault finding". Refer to => [ Starter, Checking ] Testing and Inspection.
