Rear Suspension






Separable Stabilizer Bar

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Torque wrench (V.A.G 1332)

Vehicle diagnostic, test and information system (VAS 5051)

Removing


Before starting work, stabilizer bars must be coupled in vehicles with separable stabilizer bars. Otherwise, there is the danger of injury caused by unintentional coupling.

- Depressurize hydraulic system using (VAS 5051).

- Remove rear left wheel housing liner.

- Disconnect both hydraulic lines - 1 - and electrical connection - 2 -.





Lines and wires must not be mixed up when connecting!

- Check whether color marking is present on front in driving direction. If no longer present, apply a new one.

- When loosening hydraulic lines, counterhold using open-end wrench.

- Remove coupling rods.

- Remove tie rods on both sides of wheel bearing housing.

- Back out bolt - 1 - to lock tie rod - 2 -.





- Mark installation position of stabilizer bar bearings on stabilizer bar - arrow -.





- Remove clamps and stabilizer bar.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

- Install stabilizer bar bearing halves - arrows - on stabilizer bar. Note the following:





Markings applied on stabilizer bar when removed

Larger outer diameter of stabilizer bar bearing halves must face toward vehicle center

After installation, hydraulic system must be bled using (VAS 5051). Refer to => [ Separable Stabilizer Bar, Bleeding ] Separable Stabilizer Bar, Bleeding.

Tightening Specifications






- Remove rear left wheel housing liner.
