Fuel Filter and Cooler Assembly Overview





1 Fuel return line

• From the high pressure pump.

• Blue or with a blue marking.

• Ensure that the line is securely seated.

• With -RF- marking on the fuel filter cover.

• Fuel system schematic overview. Refer to --> [ Fuel System Schematic Overview ] .

• Fuel system assembly overview. Refer to --> [ Fuel System Assembly Overview ] .

2 Fuel return line

• Via the fuel cooler to the fuel tank.

• With -RT- marking on the fuel filter cover.

• Ensure that the line is securely seated.

3 Fuel supply line

• From the auxiliary fuel pump.

• Black

• Ensure that the line is securely seated.

• With -VM- marking on the fuel filter cover.

• Fuel system assembly overview. Refer to --> [ Fuel System Assembly Overview ] .

4 Bolt, 10 Nm

5 Locking bolt, 5 Nm

• To drain the water, remove and extract approximately 100 cm 3 of fluid using the hand vacuum pump (VAG 1390) and draining container (VAG 1390/1).

6 Seal

• Replace

7 Fuel filter cover

8 Fuel supply line

• From the fuel tank.

• Black

• Ensure that the line is securely seated.

• With -VF- marking on the fuel filter cover.

• Fuel system schematic overview. Refer to --> [ Fuel System Schematic Overview ] .

• Fuel system assembly overview. Refer to --> [ Fuel System Assembly Overview ] .

9 Seal

• Replace

10 Fuel filter element

• Observe change intervals.

• Note installation position.

11 Bolt, 10 Nm

12 Gasket

• Replace

13 Fuel filter housing

14 Bolt, 8 Nm

15 Bracket

• For the fuel filter and fuel cooler.

16 Bolt, 50 Nm + 90° (1/4) turn.

• Replace

17 Coolant hoses

• Coolant hose connection diagram. Refer to --> [ Coolant Hose Connection Diagram ] [1][2]Cooling System.

18 Fuel return line

• To the fuel tank.

• Blue or with a blue marking.

• Ensure that the line is securely seated tightly

• Fuel system schematic overview. Refer to --> [ Fuel System Schematic Overview ] .

• Fuel system assembly overview. Refer to --> [ Fuel System Assembly Overview ] .
