Windshield, Removing

- Remove the A-pillar trim.

- Remove the sun visors.

- Remove interior rearview mirror.

- Loosen the headliner just enough so that it can be lowered and it is possible to cut out the windshield without damaging the headliner.

- Remove the headliner.

- Pull off left and right drip rails from engine hood, starting from retaining strips on A-pillar.

- Push the cover for instrument panel (V.A.G 1474/8) - 1 - in between the windshield and instrument panel.





- Push one cutting cord end - 2 - using awl (V.A.G 1474/2) through adhesive sealing material into the vehicle interior.

- Secure cutting cord end on the inside against pulling out using pull handle (V.A.G 1351/1) - 3 -.





- Insert cutting cord - 2 - into window flange by aid of small tube - 1 -.

- Lay cutting cord around window.

- Make sure the cutting cord is inserted under the corners of the windshield.

- Secure second cutting cord end onto spooling tool (V.A.G 1654 A).





- Set spooling tool (V.A.G 1654 A) to "position I".

- Relocate spooling tool (V.A.G 1654 A) appropriately and cut window free.

- While cutting free, press cutting cord against window using plastic wedge in order to have clearance from window flange and instrument cluster.
