Right Flange Shaft Seals

Requirement:

The bevel box is removed. Refer to the following:

Tiguan, refer to => [ Bevel Box ] Bevel Box.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (40-200 Nm) (V.A.G 1332)

• Seal Puller (T10397)

• Seal Puller (T10398)

• Assembly Tool (T10399)

• Thrust Piece (T10458)

Small Seal

Removing

- Install the seal puller (T10397) into the seal - 2 -.






- Remove the seal.






• If the seal puller (T10397) falls out:

- Reinstall the seal puller (T10397) again and remove the seal.

Installing

- Install the assembly tool (T10399/1).






- Install the seal - 2 - on the assembly tool (T10399/1).

- Install the seal all the way using the assembly tool (T10399).






Large Seal

Removing

- Install the seal puller (T10398) using 100 Nm of force into the seal - 1 -.






- Remove the seal.






• If the seal puller (T10398) falls out:

- Install the seal puller (T10398) using 120 Nm of force into the seal.

- Remove the seal.

Installing

Installed position:

The open side of the seal faces the transmission.

- Install the seal all the way using thrust piece (T10458). Do not tilt the seal.






- Install the seal all the way.

- Turn the thrust piece inside the transmission before removing it.

- Install the bevel box. Refer to the following:

Tiguan, refer to => [ Bevel Box ] Bevel Box.

- Check the transmission fluid level and add if necessary. Refer to => [ Transmission Fluid Level, Checking and Filling ] Transmission Fluid Level, Checking and Filling.
