Outer Rear Seat Belts, Vehicles with Rear Side Airbag

The following describes removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle. Removing and installing on the right side is identical.

Removing


Follow all Safety Precautions when working on an airbag. Refer to => [ Airbags Safety Precautions ] Airbags Safety Precautions

- Disconnect the battery.

- Remove the rear wheel housing trim (with rear side airbag). Refer to => [ Rear Wheel Housing Trim with Rear Side Airbag ] Rear Wheel Housing Trim with Rear Side Airbag

- Remove the sill panel trim. Refer to => [ Rear Sill Panel Trim ] Rear Sill Panel Trim

- Remove the floor cover from the vehicle.

- Remove spare wheel from vehicle.

- Remove the inserts from the vehicle.

- Remove the lock carrier cover. Refer to => [ Lock Carrier Cover ] Lock Carrier Cover

- Remove luggage compartment side trim. Refer to => [ Side Luggage Compartment Trim ] Side Luggage Compartment Trim

- Remove roof end strip. Refer to => [ Roof End Strip ] Roof End Strip

- Remove C-pillar trim. Refer to => [ C-Pillar Trim ] C-Pillar Trim

- Remove the bolt - 1 - (40 Nm) and remove belt anchor - 2 - from body.







Electrostatic charges may result in involuntary deployment of the belt tensioner. Therefore the technician must discharge static electricity from the body before separating the ignition and ground wiring. This is done, for example, by briefly touching the body or the door striker or pin.

- Disconnect the connector - 1 -.






- Remove the bolt - 2 - (40 Nm) and the automatic belt retractors - 3 - from the mount.

Installation

- Install in reverse order of removal.
