Halogen Headlamps







Halogen Headlamps

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)






It is not necessary to disconnect the battery ground cable.

Do not remove the bumper to remove the headlamps.

Illustrations depict removal and installation of right headlamp.

Always adjust the headlamp after installing it. Refer to Headlamps, Checking and Adjusting.

Removing

- Turn off the ignition and all electric consumers and remove the key.

- Remove radiator grille.

- Disengage and disconnect harness connector - arrow -.






- Remove the four screws - arrows A - and - arrows B - and remove the carrier - 1 -.






- Remove the front upper and lower screws - arrows - on the headlamp.






- Remove the rear mounting screw - arrow - on the headlamp and remove the headlamp upward out of the cutout in the body.






Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- When installing the support - 1 - be sure to follow the tightening sequence for the mounting screws:






- First tighten the mounting screws - arrows A - and the other mounting screws - arrows B - to the tightening specification shown in => [ Halogen Headlamps Overview ] Halogen Headlamps Overview.

- Check installation position of headlamp for uniform gap dimensions.

If headlamp has an uneven gap dimension to the body, installation position must be corrected. Refer to => [ Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position ] Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position.

- Check headlamp for function.

If one headlamp is removed, it must always be adjusted after installation.

- Check the headlamp adjustment and adjust it if necessary. Refer to Headlamps, Checking and Adjusting.
