Steering Mounted Controls Communication Module: Description and Operation

Steering Column Switch, Through 05.10


The removal and installation of individual steering column switch components must be done in a specified sequence. Refer to => [ Steering Column Switch Components, Removal and Installation Sequence ] Steering Column Switch Components, Removal and Installation Sequence.

• After installing a new Steering column electronics control module (J527) , it must be coded. Refer to => [ Steering Column Electronics Control Module (J527), Coding, Through 05.10 ] Testing and Inspection.

• If the steering column switch malfunctions, check the steering column electronics control module (J527) coding. Refer to => [ Steering Column Electronics Control Module (J527), Coding, Through 05.10 ] Testing and Inspection.

DTC Recognition and Display

Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module (J527) is equipped with On Board Diagnostics (OBD) which assists troubleshooting.

For troubleshooting, use Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in operating mode "Guided Fault Finding".
