Parking Lights, Remain ON with Key Removed from Ignition

Technical Background

Parking lights can be activated by headlight switch or turn signal lever. The turn signal parking light option is a European feature and must be disabled for NAR.

Service

Procedure:

Use the following procedure to change Central Electrics Control Module coding.
1. Enter Vehicle Self Diagnosis using VAS 5051B or VAS 5052
2. Highlight "On Board Diagnosis" and select forward arrow.
3. Highlight 09 "Electronic Central Electrics" and select forward arrow.
4. Select forward arrow again as shown below.





5. Highlight "007 Coding (Service 1a)" and select forward arrow.
6. Highlight "Bordnetz - SG" control module and select forward arrow.








8. Change bit 6 from x1xxxxxx to x0xxxxxx by using the keypad and select the "Q" key on the keypad.

NOTE:
All 8 bits must be typed in order. Be sure to only change the bit shown in the illustration below. The Q button must be pressed to lock in the coding.

TIP:

Bits are read from right to left starting with 0. (Example bit index 7-6-5-4-3-2-1-0.)





9. Select the forward arrow key to accept the coding.
10. Select the back arrow to the diagnostic function screen, select 004 DTC memory content.
11. Check and erase the DTC memory.
