Headlamp Range Control Positioning Motor

Removing

• If adjustment motors are removed and installed or replaced, headlamp adjustment must be checked and headlamp must be adjusted if necessary.

• Illustrations depict replacement of headlamp beam adjusting motor at left headlamp.

Removing

- Remove headlamp. Refer to=> [ Headlamps ] Headlamps.

- Rotate cover cap - 1 - in - direction of arrow - and remove it.





• To obtain access to the second headlamp beam adjusting motor bolts, an assembly opening made for this must be broken out on the rear side of the headlamp housing. This assembly opening must be sealed off with plugs (ordered separately) after completing the work.

- Place a socket (SW 5) - 1 - on plastic hex head on rear side of headlamp housing.





- Press and turn plastic hex head out of headlamp housing to break out assembly opening.

• The locking piece broken out must not remain in headlamp. Remove it from headlamp housing if necessary.

- Rotate HID Lamp Igniter Unit (N195) - 1 - toward igniter unit marking "OPEN" to stop.

• Connector - 1 - is automatically release when HID Lamp Igniter Unit (N195) is turned toward "OPEN " to stop.





- Remove HID Lamp Igniter Unit (N195) straight back from headlamp.





- Remove both Headlamp Beam Adjusting Motor bolts - arrows -.





- Raise low beam reflector and pivot adjusting motor so that ball head - 1 - can slide out of ball head mount - 2 - - in direction of arrow -.





- Lower low beam reflector again, raise adjusting motor - 1 - slightly and rotate in - direction of arrow -.





- Remove adjusting motor from headlamp housing while being careful of connected wires.

- Disconnect connector - 2 - and remove adjusting motor - 1 -.





Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Place connector - 2 - in Headlamp Beam Adjusting Motor - 1 -.





- Place Headlamp Beam Adjusting Motor - 1 - in headlamp in position shown in illustration.





- Raise low beam reflector slightly and pivot positioning motor ball head - 1 - so that it can slide in - direction of arrow - into ball head mount - 2 -.

- Install both Headlamp Beam Adjusting Motor bolts.

CAUTION!
When installing cap, ensure proper seating. It is destroyed by ingress of water into headlamp.

- Install HID Lamp Igniter Unit (N195) and bolt on cover cap.

- Seal broken out assembly opening - 1 - with a plug ordered separately





- Check headlamp for function.

- Check headlamp adjustment and adjust headlamp if necessary
