Lateral Accelerometer: Service and Repair
ESP Sensor Unit
The transverse acceleration sensor, rotation rate sensor and longitudinal acceleration sensor are installed in a housing under the right front seat.
After replacing the Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP) sensor unit, a transverse acceleration sensor basic setting must be performed.
CAUTION!
Strong vibrations (e.g. falls, impacts) can destroy the ESP sensor unit. The ESP sensor unit must then no longer be used.
Removing
- Remove the right front seat (with the seat frame).
- Remove sill panel trim.
- Lift the carpet and reposition it aside.
- Remove connector station - 1 -.
- Raise the floor covering.
- Disconnect connector - 1 - from the ESP sensor unit.
- Remove the two nuts - arrows -.
- Remove the ESP sensor unit.
Installing
- Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
When installing ESP sensor unit, be sure it is properly seated on the bracket and is free of tension.
• Do not use the nuts to forcibly position the ESP sensor unit.
- Tighten the nuts to 9 Nm.
