Coolant Pump Toothed Belt
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Insert tool 12 mm (T10360)
• Torque wrench 5-50 Nm (VAG 1331)
Removing
- Remove the small coolant pipe. Refer to --> [ Small Coolant Pipe ] Small Coolant Pipe.
- Laying aside the coolant hose - 2 - is a electrical wiring harness - 1 -.
- Remove the bolt - arrow - and remove harness bracket.
- Remove the bolt - 2 - for the after run coolant pump bracket.
- Remove the coolant hoses - 1 and 2 - and lay them aside.
- Remove the right front wheel.
- Remove the right front (rear) wheel housing liner.
- Remove the charge air pipe bolts - arrows -.
- Remove the charge air pipe by lifting the clamps - 1 and 2 -.
- Remove the intake manifold runner control valve - 2 - and move it to the side.
- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the toothed belt cover.
CAUTION!
The coolant pump drive gear bolt has a left hand thread.
- Remove the bolt for the coolant pump drive gear - 1 - using the (VAG 1331) clockwise and the (T10360); at the same time, counter hold the vibration damper.
- Remove the drive gear - 1 - and toothed belt - 2 -.
Installing
• Tightening specifications, refer to --> [ Coolant Pump and Thermostat Assembly Overview ] Coolant Pump and Thermostat Assembly Overview.
Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:
• Replace the drive gear bolt.
• Replace gaskets and O-rings.
Pay attention to the installation position of the drive gear:
• The collar on the drive gear faces the transmission.
