Fan Shroud






Fan Shroud

CAUTION!
The charge air pipe clamps must be tightened to 5.5 Nm. An insufficient or excessive tightening can cause the charge air hose to come off the charge air pipe while driving.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench 5-60 Nm (VAG 1783)

Removing

- Remove the cover for the air guide; disengage the side clips to do so - arrows -.





- Unclip the lower air guide, disengage the clips to do so - arrows -.





- Remove the lower air guide together with the air guide hose.

- Remove the bolts - 1 - from the top of the fan shroud.





- Remove the charge air pipe to noise generator. Refer to --> [ Charge Air Pipe to Noise Generator ] Service and Repair.

- Loosen the charge air pipe clamp - 2 -.





- Remove the bolt - 4 -.

- Disconnect the electrical connector - arrow - from the charge air pressure sensor and free up the electrical wire.

- Remove the noise insulation..

- Disconnect the charge air hose by lifting the clamp - 1 - and loosening the clamp - 2 -.





- Seal off the connections on the charge air cooler with a clean cloth.

- Remove the charge air pipe bolt - 1 - and remove the charge air pipe downward.





- Disconnect the electrical connector - 2 -.





- Remove the bolts - 3 - and remove the fan shroud downward.

Installing

Tightening specifications, refer to --> [ Radiator, Coolant Fan and Shroud Assembly Overview ] Radiator, Coolant Fan and Shroud Assembly Overview.

Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:

- Assemble the charge air pipe connections. Refer to --> [ Charge Air Hose Connector Coupling, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Charge Air Hose Connector Coupling, Disconnecting and Connecting.
