Front Suspension
Strut
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque wrench 40-200 Nm (VAG 1332)
• Spring compressor kit (VAG 1752)
• Shock absorber set (T10001)
• Ratchet (commercially available)
- Remove the strut. Refer to --> [ Strut ] Strut.
Coil Spring, Removing
- Pretension the coil spring using the (VAG 1752/1) until the axial groove ball bearing is loose.

CAUTION!
First preload the spring far enough so that tension is relieved on the upper spring retainer!
- Make sure that the coil spring is seated correctly in (VAG 1752/4) - arrow -.
- Remove the nut from piston rod.
- Remove the components of the strut and coil spring using (VAG 1752/1).
Coil Spring, Installing
- Place the coil spring with the (VAG 1752/1) on the lower spring plate.
The end of the spring coil must rest against the stop - arrow -.
- Tighten the new nut to the piston rod.
- Relieve tension on the (VAG 1752/1) and remove from the coil spring.
- Install the strut. Refer to --> [ Strut ] Strut.
