Battery, Removing And Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Torque Wrench VAG 1331
Removing
- Disconnect battery.
- Lift battery box panel upward in direction of - arrow -.
- Remove screws - 1 - and remove retaining bracket - 2 -.
- Fold the handles - arrows - up and remove the battery.
Installing
CAUTION:
If the battery is not secured properly, the following risks are possible:
- Shortened battery service life due to vibration damage (explosion hazard).
- If the battery is not secured properly, the plates within the battery can be damaged.
- Damage to battery casing caused by bracket (possible electrolyte leakage, high subsequent costs).
- Reduced collision safety.
Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- Tighten all fasteners to specified values.
- After installing, ensure the battery is seated properly.
- Connect battery.
CAUTION: When disconnecting and connecting the battery, the procedure must be followed as described.
