Removing

If adjustment motors are removed and installed or replaced, headlamp adjustment must be checked and headlamp must be adjusted if necessary.

Illustrations depict replacement of Headlight beam adjusting motor at right headlamp. If the Headlamp Beam Adjusting Motor on the left headlamp is removed and installed, two assembly openings with breaking points should be opened opposite the following illustrations in order to obtain access to the bolts.

- Remove headlamp. Refer to --> [ Headlamps ] Headlamps.

- Rotate cap - 1 - in - direction of arrow - and remove it.





To obtain access tot he second headlamp beam adjusting motor bolts, an assembly opening - arrow - made for this must be broken out on the rear side of the headlamp housing. This assembly opening must be sealed off with plugs (ordered separately) after completing the work.

- Place a socket (SW 5) on plastic hex head on rear side of headlamp housing.





- Press and turn plastic hex head out of headlamp housing to break out assembly opening.

The locking piece broken out must not remain in headlamp. Remove it from headlamp housing if necessary.

- Remove bolts - 2 - and - 3 - (SW T20) from Headlamp Beam Adjusting Motor - 1 -.





- Raise low beam reflector - 2 - slightly and rotate Headlamp Beam Adjusting Motor - 1 - in - direction of arrow - as far as stop.





- Raise low beam reflector slightly and pivot positioning motor ball head - 1 - so that it can slide back in - direction of arrow - out of ball head mount - 2 -.





- Remove Headlamp Beam Adjusting Motor from headlamp while being careful of connected wires.

- Disconnect connector - 1 - and remove Headlamp Beam Adjusting Motor - 2 -.





Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Connect the connector - 1 - to the headlamp range control positioning motor - 2 -.





- Place Headlamp Beam Adjusting Motor - 1 - in headlamp in position shown in illustration.





- Raise low beam reflector slightly and pivot positioning motor ball head - 1 - so that it can slide in - direction of arrow - into ball head mount - 2 -.

- Raise low beam reflector slightly and rotate Headlamp Beam Adjusting Motor - 1 - in - direction of arrow - as far as stop.





- Install both Headlamp Beam Adjusting Motors bolts and install cover cap.

CAUTION!
When installing the cover cap, make sure the cap is properly seated. It is destroyed by ingress of water into headlamp.

- Seal broken out assembly opening - 1 - with a plug ordered separately.





- Check headlamp for function.

- Check headlamp adjustment and adjust headlamp if necessary.

Headlamp Range Control Positioning Motor, Hella

Removing

If adjustment motors are removed and installed or replaced, headlamp adjustment must be checked and headlamp must be adjusted if necessary.

Illustrations depict replacement of Headlight beam adjusting motor at right headlamp.

- Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.

- Remove headlamp. Refer to --> [ Headlamps ] Headlamps.

- Rotate cover cap - 1 - in - direction of arrow - and remove it.





- Disconnect harness connector - 2 - of headlamp beam adjusting motor - 1 -.





- Turn headlamp beam adjusting motor - 1 - in - direction of arrow A - and pull out slightly from mount - 2 -.





- Move headlamp beam adjusting motor - 1 - so that ball head - 3 - can removed from Headlamp Beam Adjusting Motor in - direction of arrow B - out of ball head mount - 4 -.

- Remove headlight beam adjusting motor out of headlight housing.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Insert headlamp beam adjusting motor ball head - 1 - carefully into ball head guide - arrow -.





CAUTION!
When installing the cover cap, make sure the cap is properly seated. It is destroyed by ingress of water into headlamp.

- Check headlamp for function.

- Check headlamp adjustment and adjust headlamp if necessary.

Headlamp Range Control Positioning Motor, Visteon

Removing

If adjustment motors are removed and installed or replaced, headlamp adjustment must be checked and headlamp must be adjusted if necessary.

- Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.

- Remove headlamp. Refer to --> [ Headlamps ] Headlamps.

- Rotate cover cap - 1 - in - direction of arrow - and remove it.





- Turn headlamp beam adjusting motor - 1 - in - direction of arrow -.





- Disconnect the connector - 1 - on the headlamp beam adjusting motor - 2 -.





- Move Headlamp Beam Adjusting Motor so ball head - 2 - can be removed in - direction of arrow - from ball head mount - 1 -.





- Remove headlight beam adjusting motor out of headlight housing.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Carefully insert headlamp beam adjusting motor - 1 - ball head into ball head guide - arrow -.





CAUTION!
When installing the cover cap, make sure the cap is properly seated. It is destroyed by ingress of water into headlamp.

- Check headlamp for function.

- Check headlamp adjustment and adjust headlamp if necessary.
