Storage Compartments, Covers and Trim

Standard Center Console

Removing

Vehicles with Automatic Transmission

- Place selector lever in position "N".

- Loosen the selector lever cover and handle from the cover.

With Manual Transmission

- Remove boot with shift knob from cover.

Vehicles with Direct Shift Automatic Transmission (DSG)

- Place selector lever in position "N".

- Loosen the shift cover together with handle from the cover.

All Vehicles

- Switch off ignition.

- Remove trim for parking brake lever.

- Remove the two lining mats - 1 - from extension - 3 -.

- Remove the three bolts - 2 - (1.5 Nm).

- Release extension - 3 - from mounts.

- Pull extension - 3 - forward through opening for parking brake lever.





- In vehicles with manual transmission, remove noise insulation - 1 - from center console.

- Remove the two bolts - 2 - (1.5 Nm).

- Remove storage compartment - 3 - from center console and (depending on vehicle equipment) disconnect wiring harnesses.

Alternative to storage compartment - 3 -, an ashtray unit may be installed. Removal is identical.





- Unclip cover - 1 - from trim using a small screw driver.

- Remove bolt - 2 - (1.5 Nm).

- Pull left footwell trim - 3 - out of mounts.

Removal of right footwell trim is identical.

- Using trim removal wedge (3409), unclip trim panels - 4 - on both sides in area of locking mechanisms.





- Remove two bolts - 1 - and - 2 - (1.5 Nm) respectively.

- Remove two bolts - 3 - and - 4 - (1.5 Nm) respectively.

- Remove lining mat from rear beverage holder and remove bolt - 5 - (1.5 Nm).

When installing, bolts must be installed in the sequence - 1 -, - 2 -, - 3 -, - 4 - and - 5 -.

- Remove center console from vehicle.





Installing

To install, perform the steps used for removal in reverse order.
