Instrument Panel
Removing
- Disconnect vehicle battery.
- Remove driver side airbag unit. Refer to --> [ Driver Airbag ] Removal and Replacement.
- Remove steering wheel. Refer to --> [ Steering Wheel ] Removal and Replacement.
- Remove steering column trim. Refer to --> [ Steering Column Trim ] Removal and Replacement.
- Remove turn signal switch and windshield wiper switch.
- Remove side instrument panel covers. Refer to --> [ Side Instrument Panel Covers ] Removal and Replacement.
- Remove center trim on A-pillars. Refer to --> [ Center A-Pillar Trim ] Pillar and Side Trim.
- Remove upper trim on A-pillars. Refer to --> [ Upper A-Pillar Trim ] Pillar and Side Trim.
- Remove center cover. Refer to --> [ Center Cover ] Removal and Replacement.
- Remove glove compartment. Refer to --> [ Glove Compartment ] Removal and Replacement.
- Remove left trim panel on driver side:
• without storage compartment --> [ Left Driver's Side Trim without Storage Compartment ] Removal and Replacement.
• with storage compartment --> [ Left Driver Side Trim with Storage Compartment ] Removal and Replacement.
- Remove right trim panel on driver side. Refer to --> [ Right Trim Panel on Driver side ] Removal and Replacement.
- Remove footwell cover (driver side). Refer to --> [ Driver Side Footwell Cover ] Removal and Replacement.
- Remove center console:
• Basic --> [ Standard Center Console ] Removal and Replacement.
• Highline --> [ Highline Center Console ] Removal and Replacement.
- Remove the center instrument panel vents. Refer to --> [ Center Instrument Panel Air Vents ] Removal and Replacement.
- Remove center instrument panel trim. Refer to --> [ Center Instrument Panel Trim ] Removal and Replacement.
Vehicles with radio system
- Remove the radio.
Vehicles with Navigation
- Remove Navigation display and control head.
Vehicles with Climatic or Climatronic
- Remove controls for Climatic or Climatronic.
Vehicles with heating
- Remove heater controls.
All vehicles
- Remove instrument cluster.
- Remove the fuse holder. Fuse holder is not removed, but remains in vehicle.
- Remove two bolts - 1 - (9 Nm) from front passenger airbag.
- Remove bolts - 2 - - 3 - and - 4 - (3 Nm).
- Remove bolts - 1 - (1.5 Nm).
- Remove bracket - 2 -, remove bolts - 3 - (10 Nm) to do so.
- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 - (3 Nm).
- Remove bolts - 1 - - 2 - and - 3 - (3 Nm).
- Pull instrument panel out of mounts - 1 - in windshield transition area.
- Depending on vehicle equipment, disconnect the corresponding wiring harnesses and remove instrument panel from vehicle with a second technician.
• When installing instrument panel, make sure that instrument panel is placed with exact fit into mounts - 1 -.
Installing
To install, perform the steps used for removal in reverse order.
