Crankshaft Assembly Overview
CAUTION!
• If the crankshaft was removed, a new intermediate sprocket--> [ 14 Intermediate Sprocket ] Oil Pump, Oil Pan and Balance Shaft Module with a coating must be installed and the hub --> [ 11 Hub ] Oil Pump, Oil Pan and Balance Shaft Module including the bolt --> [ (item 12) 90 Nm plus an additional 90° (/ turn) ] Oil Pump, Oil Pan and Balance Shaft Module and axial bearing discs --> [ (item 13) Axial Bearing Disc ] Oil Pump, Oil Pan and Balance Shaft Module must be replaced. Otherwise the backlash will be incorrect.

1 Bearing Shells 1, 2, 4 and 5
• For bearing cap without oil groove
• For cylinder block with oil groove
• Do not interchange used bearing shells (mark)
2 65 Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°)
• Replace
• Tighten to 65 Nm to measure radial play but do not tighten further.
3 Bearing Cap
• Bearing cap 1: Belt pulley side
• Bearing cap 3 with notches for thrust washers
• Retaining tabs of bearing shells and cylinder block/bearing caps must lie above one another
4 Bearing Shell 3
• For bearing cap without oil groove
• For cylinder block with oil groove
5 Thrust Washer
• For bearing cap 3
• Observe locating point
6 Crankshaft
• Follow "Safety Precautions"
• Axial play new: 0.07 to 0.17 mm, Wear limit: 0.37 mm
• Check radial clearance with Plastigage: 0.03 to 0.08 mm, Wear limit: 0.17 mm
• Do not turn crankshaft when measuring radial play

7 Thrust Washer
• For cylinder block, bearing 3
