Rear Brakes






Brake Caliper Piston

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Resetting & extracting tool (T10165)

Trim removal wedge (3409)

Removing

- Remove the piston from the brake caliper by turning the knurled wheel toward the left.

Insert the (T10165) so the collar makes contact on the piston.





For pistons that are difficult to move, an open end wrench (size 13 mm) can be used at the appropriate wrench surface - arrow A -.

- Remove the seal using (3409).





Installing

- The surface of the piston and seal must only be cleaned with mineral spirits and then dried.

- Coat the piston and seal with a thin layer of assembly paste (G 052 150 A2) before installing.

- Place the protective cap with outer sealing lip on the piston.





- Using (3409), insert the inner sealing lip into the cylinder groove.





Hold the piston in front of the brake caliper for this procedure.

- Install piston by turning the knurled wheel toward the right.





- To install, use (T10165/1) as an aid.

Insert the (T10165) so the collar makes contact on the brake caliper.

When the piston is mis-adjusted using the (T10145) or if the brake pedal is pressed, the automatic reset function of the brake caliper is compromised.
