Brake Caliper Piston
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Resetting & extracting tool (T10165)
• Trim removal wedge (3409)
Removing
- Remove the piston from the brake caliper by turning the knurled wheel toward the left.
Insert the (T10165) so the collar makes contact on the piston.
• For pistons that are difficult to move, an open end wrench (size 13 mm) can be used at the appropriate wrench surface - arrow A -.
- Remove the seal using (3409).
Installing
- The surface of the piston and seal must only be cleaned with mineral spirits and then dried.
- Coat the piston and seal with a thin layer of assembly paste (G 052 150 A2) before installing.
- Place the protective cap with outer sealing lip on the piston.
- Using (3409), insert the inner sealing lip into the cylinder groove.
Hold the piston in front of the brake caliper for this procedure.
- Install piston by turning the knurled wheel toward the right.
- To install, use (T10165/1) as an aid.
• Insert the (T10165) so the collar makes contact on the brake caliper.
• When the piston is mis-adjusted using the (T10145) or if the brake pedal is pressed, the automatic reset function of the brake caliper is compromised.
