FN 3 Caliper
Brake Caliper Piston
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim removal wedge (3409)
• Piston resetting tool (T10145)
• Disk (T10146/6)
Removing
- Force the piston from the brake caliper using compressed air - arrow -.
Place a wooden board into the recess of the caliper housing so the piston is not damaged.
- Pry off protective cap from the brake caliper using the (3409).
- Remove the seal using the (3409).
When removing, make sure that the surface of the cylinder is not damaged.
Installing
- The surface of the piston and seal must only be cleaned with mineral spirits and then dried.
- Coat the piston and seal with a thin layer of assembly paste (G 052 150 A2) before installing.
- Install the sealing ring in the brake caliper.
- Insert the protective cap - A - into the (T10146/6) - 1 -.
- Press the protective cap onto the brake caliper using (T10146/6) - 1 - and (T10145) - 2 - so that it makes contact all around on the brake caliper.
Check seating of the protective caps
- Protective cap must no longer be able to be pulled from the brake caliper by hand.
- Press piston lightly onto the protective cap and then secure it in this position using the (3409) - 2 -.
Do not angle piston, to avoid damaging the seal sleeve.
- Using compressed air (max. 3 bar), blow onto the protective cap - 1 -. Protective cap springs onto the piston.
- Press the piston into the brake caliper using (T10145) - 1 -.
Outer sealing lip of protective cap will then engage in the piston groove.
