FS III Caliper






Brake Pads

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench 5-50 Nm (VAG 1331)

Piston resetting tool (T10145)

Removing

When removing, mark the brake pads if they will be used again. Install them in the same position, otherwise braking effect will be uneven!

- Remove the wheels.

- Disconnect the electrical connector - 1 - for the brake pad wear indicator.





- Remove the caps - arrows -.





- Loosen both guide pins - arrows - and remove them from the brake caliper.





- Remove the brake caliper and secure it with wire so that the weight of the brake caliper does not burden or damage the brake hose.

- Remove the brake pads from the brake caliper.

Cleaning

CAUTION!
Do not blow compressed air on the brake system components, the dust produced is harmful to health!

- Thoroughly clean all contact surfaces for the brake pads on the brake carrier, and remove any corrosion.

Use only appropriate solvents for cleaning the brake caliper.

Installing

Before pressing piston into the cylinder, some brake fluid must be extracted from the brake fluid reservoir. Otherwise, especially if the reservoir has been topped off, fluid will overflow and cause damage.

- Press the piston in using the (T10145).





- Insert the inner brake pad (piston side) - 1 - and outer brake pad - 2 - with the retaining springs into the brake caliper.

Outer brake pad with small three finger clip - 2 - (colored black).

- Place the brake caliper with the brake pads on the brake carrier first at the bottom - arrow -.





- Tighten the brake caliper to the brake carrier using the guide pins- arrows -.





The pin of the brake caliper must stand behind the guide of the brake carrier!

- Install both protective caps.

- Connect the brake pad wear indicator electrical connector.

- Install the wheels..

After replacing the brake pads and before moving the vehicle, always press the brake pedal firmly several times to properly seat the brake pads in their normal operating position.

Check the brake fluid level after replacing the brake pads.

Tightening Specifications
