ABS Mark 60 (ABS, EDL, ASR and ESP)

Electrical and Electronic Components and Locations





1 Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module (w/ Electronic Differential Lock (EDL)) (J104)

• Component location: Om hydraulic unit on the right side of the engine compartment.

• Do not disconnect the connector before successfully completing the On Board Diagnostic (OBD). Turn the ignition off before disconnecting connector.

The following components are integrated inside the control module:

• Transverse acceleration sensor

• Rotation rate sensor

• Longitudinal acceleration sensor (with hill assist).

2 ABS hydraulic unit (N55)

• Component location: In the engine compartment, on the right side.

The hydraulic unit consists of the following components:

• ABS hydraulic pump.

• Brake pressure sensor.

• Valve block (contains the in/outlet valves).

• The ABS hydraulic pump and valve block must not be separated from one another.

3 Brake pad wear indicator lamp (K32)

• Component location: In the instrument cluster.

• Function, refer to --> [ Level Control System Indicator Lamps ] Level Control System Indicator Lamps.

4 ABS warning lamp (K47)

• Component location: In the instrument cluster.

• Function, refer to --> [ Level Control System Indicator Lamps ] Level Control System Indicator Lamps.

5 Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR)/Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP) control lamp (K155)

• Only on vehicles with ABS/ Electronic Differential Lock (EDL)/ASR/ESP.

• Component location: In the instrument cluster.

6 Brake system warning lamp (K118)

• Component location: In the instrument cluster.

• Function, refer to --> [ Level Control System Indicator Lamps ] Level Control System Indicator Lamps.

7 Brake light switch (F)

• Includes the brake pedal switch.

• Component location: On the master cylinder.

• Removing and installing, refer to --> [ Brake Light Switch, from 12.11.05 ] Brake Light Switch, from 12.11.05.

8 ASR/ESP button (E256)

• Only on vehicles with ABS/EDL/ASR/ESP.

• Component location: In the center console.

9 Data Link Connection (DLC)

• Component location: Cover in driver footwell.

10 Steering angle sensor (G85)

• From 07.06.08, the steering angle sensor is located inside the steering gear on vehicles equipped with generation 3 electromechanical steering.

• Location A: On the steering column between the steering wheel and the steering column switch.

• Removing and installing, refer to --> [ Steering Angle Sensor ] Service and Repair.

• Location B: Inside the steering gear.

11 Right front wheel speed sensor (G45)/left front wheel speed sensor (G47)

12 Wheel bearing/hub unit

• The ABS sensor ring is installed in the wheel bearing.

13 Right rear wheel speed sensor (G44)/left rear wheel speed sensor (G46)

14 Wheel bearing/hub unit

• The ABS sensor ring is installed in the wheel bearing.
