Molded Headliner, Sedan






Roof Trim

Molded Headliner, Sedan

Removing

- If present, open sunroof.

- Switch off ignition.

- Remove the center console

Standard Center Console Removing and Installing --> [ Standard Center Console ] Standard Center Console

Highline Center Console Removing and Installing --> [ Highline Center Console ] Highline Center Console
It not necessary to remove the trim panel mount - 1 - when removing the Highline center console.





- Remove the connection (for the air duct in the center console) - 2 - in - direction of arrow -.

It is not necessary to remove the passenger's or driver's seat.

Vehicles with DSG and automatic transmission

- Release the selector lever with the emergency release and put it in the "S" position.

With Manual Transmission

- Engage 4th gear with the selector lever.

Use a cloth or tape on the upper part of the lever to avoid damage to the headliner.

All vehicles

- Remove lights and switches in headliner.

- Remove roof end strip.

- Remove upper A-pillar trim on left and right. Refer to --> [ Upper A-Pillar Trim ] Pillar and Side Trim.

- Remove upper B-pillar trim on left and right. Refer to --> [ Upper B-Pillar Trim ] Pillar and Side Trim.

- Remove C-pillar trim on left and right. Refer to --> [ C-Pillar Trim, Sedan ] Pillar and Side Trim.

Vehicles with Sunroof

- Slide wedge (T10039/1) between frame - 1 - and headliner - 2 -.

- Separate frame around circumference of headliner in - direction of arrow - using lever (T10039).





All vehicles

- Remove right and left sun visors - 1 -. Refer to --> [ Sun Visor ] Sun Visor.

- Remove right and left roof grab handles - 2 - and - 3 -.

Replace all clips in the grab handle brackets.

Vehicles with rearview mirror with rain sensor

- Remove the interior rearview mirror with rain sensor. Refer to --> [ Interior Rearview Mirror with Rain Sensor ] Interior Rearview Mirror.

All vehicles

- Remove the two bolts - 4 - (2 Nm).





- Remove bolts - 1 - (2 Nm) at left and right side on headliner.

CAUTION!
Perform the following work steps especially carefully in order to prevent damage to headliner.

- Lower headliner slightly and (depending on vehicle equipment) disconnect wiring harnesses from headliner.

- Move both the passenger's and driver's seat backrests as far back as possible.

- Remove headliner from vehicle through front passenger door.





Installing

To install, perform the steps used for removal in reverse order.
