iPod(R) System

From 04.06 production, vehicles may be equipped with an iPod mobile digital device cradle.

If installed, the cradle supports the following units:

• Classic iPod (3rd and 4th generation)

• iPod mini

• iPod photo

When device is inserted in cradle, contents of device drive can be displayed and selected via the radio or radio-navigation system display. Power is supplied to device via the cradle.

Audio data on device can be shown in the radio system display. However photo data and background audio data (ID3 tags) will not be displayed. The radio or radio-navigation system display shows files as "track XX".

Selected files are preprocessed by the device and sent to radio or radio-navigation system for playback.

Before troubleshooting or servicing, technicians must be familiar with the functions and operation specifics of the standard or optional radio system and mobile device interface with radio system. Always read the owner's manual, iPod operators manual and review applicable system functions.
