Alarm Horn: Service and Repair






Alarm Horn

The Alarm Horn (H12) is located at the right on the A-pillar in the fender.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Drill (VAS 5134)

Drill bit dia. 6 mm

Pop rivet pliers (VAS 5072)

To remove the Alarm Horn (H12), the anti-theft alarm system must be deactivated. Refer to => [ Anti-Theft Alarm System, Activating/Deactivating ] Testing and Inspection.

CAUTION!
Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.

Remove ignition key.

Removing

- Remove the right front wheel housing liner.

- Using (VAS 5134) and a spiral bore dia. 6 mm, drill out both pop rivets - arrows -.





- Remove Alarm Horn - 1 - in - direction of arrow - from body cutout.





- Disconnect connector - 2 -.

Installing

Remove all metal shavings through the drilled holes.

- Perform the necessary corrosion protection measures.

- Connect harness connector to Alarm Horn.

- Guide clip - 2 - for Alarm Horn - 3 - into body cutout - 1 -.





- Secure Alarm Horn using (VAS 5072).

Alarm Horn, Checking

The Alarm Horn can be checked using output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) of the Comfort System Central Control Module (J393). Refer to => [ Comfort System Central Control Module, Output Diagnostic Test Mode ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
