Battery






Battery

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)


Risk of injury. Follow all Warnings and Safety Precautions. Refer to => [ Battery Warnings and Safety Precautions ] Battery Warnings and Safety Precautions.

Removal

- Disconnect the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

- Remove the battery case wall in - direction of arrow -.






- Remove the bolt - 1 - and the clamping plate - 2 -.






- Fold up the handles - arrows - and remove the battery.






Installation


If the Battery is not secured properly, the following risks are possible:

Shortened battery service life due to vibration damage (explosion hazard).

If the battery is not secured properly, the plates inside the battery can get damaged.

Damage to battery casing caused by clamping plate (possible electrolyte leakage, high subsequent costs).

Inadequate crash safety.

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Tighten the threaded connections to the tightening specification. Refer to => [ Battery Overview ] Battery Overview.

- Make sure the battery is secure after installing it.

- Connect the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
