Trailing Arm Bushing: Service and Repair






Trailing Arm Bushing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Thrust plate (VW 401)

Thrust plate (VW 402)

Assembly tool (T10230)

Installation device (3372)

Bonded rubber bushing, pressing out

- Remove trailing arm. Refer to => [ Trailing Arm with Mounting Bracket ] Trailing Arm with Mounting Bracket.

- Install tools as shown in the illustration.





1. Tube (T10230/3)

2. Press piece (T10230/10)

5. (VW 402)

- Press out bonded rubber bushing.

Bonded rubber bushing, pressing in

- Place trailing arm on a level surface.





- Place trailing link on level surface so that dimension - A - = 114 mm.

- Mark a vertical line onto bushing of trailing arm - arrows -.

Installation position

There are 2 different bonded rubber bushings. For both, the marked line must lie between raised points - 1 - after pressing in.





- Position bonded rubber bushings.

Always make sure that bonded rubber bushings are in correct installation position to bushing of trailing arm.

- Install special tools as depicted in the illustration.





1. Tube (T10230/5)

2. Thrust plate (T10230/12), chamfer must point to bonded rubber bushing

3. Bonded rubber bushing

5. (VW 402)

- Press in bonded rubber bushing flush.

- Install mounting bracket on trailing arm. Refer to => [ Trailing Arm with Mounting Bracket ] Trailing Arm with Mounting Bracket.

- Install the trailing arm => [ Trailing Arm with Mounting Bracket ] Trailing Arm with Mounting Bracket
