Selector shaft oil seal, replacing 02Q, 6 Speed M/T

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required





^ Tube VW 423





^ Extractor lever T20143/1
^ Sealing grease G 052 128 A1

- Remove entire air filter housing, if it is located above selector shaft.





- Pull off securing clip - 2 - and press relay lever - 3 - to side and out of mounting.

Note: If actuator lever cannot be removed due to the transmission plate, remove selector cable from actuator lever. Guide shoe out of transmission shift lever.

- Remove nut - 4 - and remove transmission shift lever - 1 -.





- Pry out seal using pulling hook T20143/1





- Lightly oil new sealing ring on outer circumference.
- Fill area between sealing lip and dust lip - arrow - halfway with sealing grease G 052 128 A1.





- Drive in sealing ring as far as stop using Sleeve VW 423.

The rest of installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

Note: Transmission shift lever can only be inserted in one position.

- If removed, install entire air filter housing.
