Clutch Pedal Overview






Clutch Pedal and Hydraulics Overviews

Obtain the anti-theft code for the radio before disconnecting the battery.

Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) cable with the ignition turned off.

When connecting the battery

Lubricate all bearing areas and contact surfaces.

Allocate the grease, refer to the parts catalog.





Clutch Pedal Overview





1 Bulkhead

With the studs for the mounting bracket.

2 Gasket

Always replace

Between the bracket and bulkhead,

Self-adhesive

Adhere to the mounting bracket.

3 Mounting Bracket

For clutch pedal mounting.

Some versions have a sound absorber, refer to.

Removing and installing, refer to one of the following:

GTI, through 2009, refer to => [ Mounting Bracket ] Clutch Pedal and Hydraulics.

Golf/GTI, from 2010, refer to => [ Mounting Bracket ] Clutch Pedal and Hydraulics.

4 Bolt

5 Over Center Spring

Removing and installing, refer to one of the following:

GTI, through 2009, refer to => [ Over Center Spring ] Clutch Pedal and Hydraulics.

Golf/GTI, from 2010, refer to => [ Over Center Spring ] Clutch Pedal and Hydraulics.

6 Bushing

7 Pivot Pin

8 Clutch Pedal

Removing and installing, refer to one of the following:

9 Mount

To remove and install, separate the master cylinder form the clutch pedal, refer to one of the following:

GTI, through 2009, refer to => [ Clutch Pedal ] Clutch Pedal and Hydraulics.

Golf/GTI, from 2010, refer to => [ Clutch Pedal ] Clutch Pedal and Hydraulics.

10 Gasket

Always replace

Between the master cylinder and mounting bracket.

11 Master Cylinder

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Master Cylinder ] Clutch Pedal and Hydraulics.

12 Clutch Position Sensor (G476)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Clutch Position Sensor ] Clutch Pedal and Hydraulics.

Can be tested in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnostic tester.

In "Guided Fault Finding", the clutch position sensor is designated as the clutch pedal switch (F36).

13 Clip

To remove and install the hose/line assembly, pull the clip out to the stop.

14 Supply Hose

Rubber on some vehicles.

GTI, through 2009, made of plastic on some vehicles, refer to.

Golf/GTI, through 2010, made of plastic, refer to.

15 Self Locking Nut

25 Nm

Always replace

Quantity: 3

For the mounting bracket to the bulkhead.

16 Nut

25 Nm

Always replace

17 Jounce Bumper

For the clutch pedal.
