Shifter A/T: Adjustments






Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

The selector lever cable must always be adjusted if:

The selector lever cable was removed from the transmission.

The engine and/or transmission were removed and installed.

Parts of engine/transmission mounts were removed and installed.

The cable itself or the selector mechanism was removed and installed.

The engine/transmission positions change, for example, were installed free of tension.

Adjusting

- Move the selector lever into the "P" position.

Loosen the adjustment bolt - 2 -.






- Move the selector shaft lever - 3 - into the "P" position (push the lever to the rear).

Make sure the parking lock is latched.

- From underneath the vehicle, rotate both front wheels in the same direction and at the same time until the parking lock audibly engages.

The parking lock is engaged when it is not possible to rotate both front wheels in the same direction at the same time.

- Lightly tap button in the handle forward and backward and make sure to keep the handle in the "P" position.

This locates the cable core in its optimal position.

- Tighten the adjustment bolt - 2 - to 15 Nm.






This ends the adjustment.
