Illuminated Sill Panel Strips

Volkswagen R GmbH optional equipment

• The following describes removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle. Removing and installing on the right side is identical.

• An illuminated sill trim, with the Volkswagen R GmbH logo on it, is installed only on the driver and front passenger sides.

• The illuminated sill trim does not have standard bulbs but rather a wiring harness with LEDs.

• Therefore, it is not possible to repair this. If damaged, then the entire illuminated sill trim must be replaced.

Removing

Passat CC from MY 2009 and CC from MY 2010

- Remove the seat bench. Refer to => [ Seat Bench, Passat from MY 2006, Passat CC from MY 2009 and CC from MY 2010 ] Seat Bench, Passat from MY 2006, Passat CC from MY 2009 and CC from MY 2010.

- Remove the side cushion:

• With rear side airbag, refer to => [ Side Upholstery with Side Airbag ] Side Upholstery with Side Airbag

• without rear side airbags => [ Side Upholstery without Side Airbag ] Side Upholstery without Side Airbag

- Remove wheel housing trim. Refer to => [ Wheel Housing Trim ] Wheel Housing Trim.

• To provide a better illustration, the front seat is not shown in the illustration.

- Remove the two bolts - 1 -.

- Remove sill molding - 2 - from catches in sill in front door area.

- Cut the cable tie - 5 - and disconnect the connector - 4 -.

- Loosen sill panel trim from mounts in front area of B-pillar.

- Remove sill panel trim from catches in door sill in rear door area.

- Thread seat belt - 3 - through the slit in sill panel - 2 -.






Installing

- Thread seat belt - 3 - through the slit in sill panel - 2 -.

- Bend sill panel trim outward in rear area of B-pillar.

- Press sill panel trim into mounts in door sill in rear door area.

- Place sill panel trim in corresponding mounts in front area of B-pillar.

- Connect the connector - 4 - and secure it to the sill trim with a cable tie - 5 -.

- Press sill panel trim into mounts in door sill in front door area.

- Secure sill panel trim with two screws - 1 - (2 Nm).

- Check whether sill panel trim is located in door seal moldings.
