Rear Brakes






Brake Caliper Piston

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Resetting & extracting tool (T 10165)

Trim removal wedge (3409)

Removing

- Remove the piston from the brake caliper by turning the knurled wheel on the resetting & extracting tool (T 10165) toward the left.

Insert the resetting & extracting tool (T 10165 ) so the collar makes contact on the piston.





For pistons that are difficult to move, a 13 mm open end wrench can be used at the appropriate wrench surface - arrow A -.

- Remove the seal using the trim removal wedge ( 3409).





Installing

- The surface of the piston and seal must only be cleaned with mineral spirits and then dried.

- Thinly coat piston and seal with assembly paste ( G 052 150 A2) before inserting.

- Place the protective cap with outer sea on piston.





- Insert the inner seal in cylinder groove using the trim removal wedge (3409).

Hold piston in front of brake caliper for this procedure.





- Install piston using the resetting & extracting tool (T 10165) by turning the knurled wheel toward the right.

- Use (T 10165/1)for assistance when installing.





Insert the resetting & extracting tool (T 10165 ) so the collar makes contact on the brake caliper.

The automatic adjustment in brake caliper is destroyed when piston is moved with resetting & extracting tool (T 10165) or the brake pedal is operated.
