Storage Compartments, Covers and Trim

Center Console, Basis, Rabbit from MY 2004

Removal

- Switch off ignition.

Vehicles with automatic transmission

- Loosen boot from cover.

Vehicles with manual transmission and Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG)

- Loosen boot from cover.

All vehicles

- Remove parking brake lever trim.

- Remove the two lining mats - 1 - from extension - 3 -.

- Remove the three bolts - 2 - (1.5 Nm).

- Loosen extension from mounts.

- Pull parking brake lever extension forward through opening.





- Remove gear selector insulation - 1 - from center console.

- Remove the two bolts - 2 - (1.5 Nm).

- Remove storage compartment - 3 - from center console and (depending on vehicle equipment) disconnect wiring harnesses.

• An ashtray may be installed instead of the storage compartment - 3 -, removal is the same.





- Unclip cover - 1 - from trim using a small screwdriver.

- Remove bolt - 2 - (1.5 Nm).

- Pull left footwell trim - 3 - out of mounts.

• Removal of right footwell trim is identical.

- Using the Trim Removal Wedge (3409), unclip the trim panels - 4 - on both sides in the area of the retainers.





- Remove the two bolts - 1 - and - 2 - (1.5 Nm).

- Remove the two bolts - 3 - and - 4 - (1.5 Nm).

- Remove bolt - 5 - (1.5 Nm).

• Install the screws in this sequence: - 1 -, - 2 -, - 3 -, - 4 - and - 5 -.

- Remove center console from vehicle.





Installation

- To install, perform the steps used for removal in reverse order.
