Vehicle Information

Condition

Keys, Unable to Program

Only one key is able to be programmed to vehicle.

Technical Background

A communication conflict between the instrument cluster and VAS 5051/5052 scan tool occurs while the instrument cluster is in diagnostic mode. Normal communication is taking place allowing a message from the airbag control module to take precedence to cause a time out problem while adapting keys. Only one key is able to be programmed to the vehicle.

NOTE:
Communication conflict only occurs while in diagnostic mode and does not affect operation of airbag safety systems.

Production Solution

Start of production MY 2009

Tip:
This only applies to MY 2008 due to the change to Immobilizer with Download that was introduced in MY 2008.

Service

Key adaption procedure must be attempted a minimum of 2 times with no more than 3 attempts before this procedure is performed. Otherwise the claim may be subject to adjusting.
