Battery Tester VAS 6161

It is not necessary to disconnect or remove the battery when using the Battery Tester (VAS 6161).
The Battery Tester (VAS 6161) no longer is loading the battery. It is working according to the principle of dynamic conductivity.
The Battery Tester (VAS 6161) stores all battery types.
The data can be stored on a SD memory card.
The Battery Tester (VAS 6161) can be updated using an interface or an SD memory card, so that all battery data from Volkswagen is current.
The integrated infrared sensor (measuring the battery temperature) increases the quality of the measurements.
As an option, there is a 2D scanner available, which can be used to read the bar code on the battery.

Perform the following work:
CAUTION!
Do not check or charge a battery when the visual indicator has no color or is bright yellow. Jump starting must not be used!
There is a risk of explosion during testing, charging or jump starting.
The battery must be replaced.
• The battery temperature must be minimum 10 °C.
- Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.
- Check the battery visual indicator if it has one. Refer to => [ Battery with Visual Indicator, Checking ] Battery With Visual Indicator, Checking.
- Switch on the (VAS 6161). Refer to => [ Battery Tester VAS 6161 ] Battery Tester VAS 6161.
- Attach the red clamp (+) to the battery positive terminal.
- Attach the black clamp (-) to the negative terminal on the battery negative terminal.
• Make sure the test clamps make good contact!
- Select the following:
• Maintenance test (only on new vehicles before becoming inventory), refer to => [ Maintenance Test, Performing ] Maintenance Test, Performing
• Service test, refer to => [ Service Test, Performing ]. Service Test, Performing
• Warranty test, refer to => [ Warranty Test, Performing ]. Warranty Test, Performing
• The test is over after approximately 10 seconds.
• The results of the test are output through the printer.
• The (VAS 6161) does not have to cool down before taking the next measurement.
- Switch off the (VAS 6161). Refer to => [ Battery Tester VAS 6161 ] Battery Tester VAS 6161.
- Remove the test clamps.
