Multiport Fuel Injection
Safety Precautions
CAUTION!
• Follow safety measures for releasing the high side fuel pressure. Refer to => [ High Side Fuel Pressure, Releasing ] Service and Repair.
• Fuel system is under pressure! Wear protective goggles and protective clothing to prevent injuries and contact with skin. Before disconnecting, wrap a cloth around the connection point. Then release the pressure by carefully disconnecting the connection.
To reduce the risk of personal injury and/or damage to the fuel injection and ignition system, always observe the following:
• Do not touch or remove the ignition wires when the engine is running or turning at starter speed.
• The ignition must be switched off before connecting or disconnecting injection and ignition system wiring or test cables.
• The fuel pump is activated by switching on the ignition and by the door contact switch of the driver's door. For safety reason, disconnect the fuel pump control module electrical connector - 2 - before opening the fuel supply system if the battery is not disconnected.
CAUTION!
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to clearance issues:
• Route lines of all types (for example: fuel, hydraulic, Evaporative Emission (EVAP) , coolant, refrigerant, brake or vacuum) and electrical wires so that the original path is followed.
• To prevent damage to the lines, make sure there is sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.
If special testing equipment is required during road test, note the following:
• Test equipment must always be secured in the rear seat and operated from there by a second person.
If test and measuring instruments are operated from the front passenger seat and the vehicle is involved in an accident, there is a possibility that the person sitting in this seat may receive serious injuries when the airbag is triggered.
