Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Ratchet insert 1/4" (VAS 6234)

TORX(R) bit set (VAG 1766)

Spring type clip pliers (VAS 5024A)

Torque wrench (5-60 Nm) (VAG 1783)

Removing

- Disconnect the electrical connector - 1 -.





- Remove the wiring harness from the bracket - 2 -.

- Remove the harness bracket bolt - 3 -.

Do not pull out the camshaft adjustment valve by the connector.

- Remove the camshaft adjuster valve bolts - arrows - and remove the valve from the housing.





Installing

The camshaft adjustment valve as well as the housing must be free of dirt and contamination.

Remove the new camshaft adjustment valve from the packaging only prior to installation.

CAUTION!
The camshaft adjustment valve must not be subjected to knocks and impacts.

- Lubricate the seal with engine oil.

- Carefully install the camshaft adjustment valve into the housing and press it in by hand until seated.

- Tighten the bolts.

Tightening specification: 4 Nm.

The rest of the assembly is basically a reverse of the removal sequence.
