Oil Pan Assembly Overview
1 Bolt, 15 Nm
2 Oil Dipstick
• Marks, refer to => [ Oil Dipstick Markings ] Testing and Inspection.
• Oil level must not exceed the Max. marking!
3 Inlet Spout
4 Guide Tube
5 Intermediate Plate
6 Oil Pump with Balance Shaft Drive
• With the pressure relief valve 12 bar.
• If the oil pump with balance shaft drive was removed, the intermediate plate - item 5 - must always be replaced.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Oil Pump with Balance Shaft Drive ] Oil Pump with Balance Shaft Drive.
7 Bolt, 15 Nm + 90° (1/4) additional turn
• Always replace.
• Note the different length of the bolts. Refer to => [ Balance Shaft Gear Bolt Allocation ] Oil Pump with Balance Shaft Drive.
8 Bolt, 15 Nm
9 Bolt, 8 Nm
• For the charge air pipe mounting.
10 Oil Pan
• Clean the sealing surface before installing.
• If the oil pan was removed, the intermediate plate - item 5 - must always be replaced.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Oil Pan ] Oil Pan.
• Oil return line from turbocharger connection see - item 16 - in the => [ Turbocharger Coolant Inlet, Oil Inlet and Return Lines Assembly Overview ] Service and Repair.
11 Bolt, 15 Nm
12 Oil Drain Plug, 30 Nm
• With a permanent seal.
• Always replace.
13 Oil Pump Chain Sprocket
14 Bolt, 10 Nm
• Only on vehicles with a service interval display.
15 Protective Cap
• Only on vehicles with a service interval display.
16 Oil Level Thermal Sensor (G266)
• Only on vehicles with a service interval display.
17 Seal
• Only on vehicles with a service interval display.
• Always replace.
• Lubricate before assembling.
18 Bolt, 20 Nm + 90° (1/4) additional turn
• Always replace.
19 Chain Guard

21 Sealing Flange
• Must be located on the alignment pins.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Sealing Flange, Belt Pulley Side ] Service and Repair.
• To remove and install, remove/install the oil pan. Refer to => [ Oil Pan ] Oil Pan.
• Crankshaft seal replacing, refer to => [ Crankshaft Seal, Belt Pulley Side ] Service and Repair.
