Crankshaft Assembly Overview
Crankshaft Assembly Overview
• On vehicles with a DSG transmission, the needle bearing must be installed in the rear of the crankshaft.
1 Bolt, 65 Nm + 90° (1/4) additional turn
• Always replace.
• Fully threaded.
• Only tighten the crankshaft bearing cap bolts to 65 Nm to measure radial play. Do not rotate further.
2 Bearing Cap
• Bearing cap 1: Belt pulley side.
• Retaining tabs of the bearing shells and cylinder block/bearing caps must align with one another.
3 Screw, 10 Nm + 90° (1/4) additional turn
• Always replace.
4 Sensor Wheel
• For the engine speed (RPM) sensor.
• Replace the sensor wheel every time the bolts are loosened.
• Only possible to install in one position - bores are offset.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Sensor Wheel ] Service and Repair.

• Measure radial clearance with Plastigage.
• Radial clearance: new 0.017 to 0.037 mm.
• Wear limit: 0.07 mm.
• Do not turn the crankshaft when measuring radial play.
