Right Stub/Flange Shaft and Seal
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Pressure Piece (3377)
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1332)
• Sealing Grease (G 052 128 A1)
• Grease (G 052 735)
Removing
- Remove the right wheel.
- Remove the noise insulation.
- Remove the right drive axle.
Vehicles With a Intermediate Shaft
- After removing the right drive axle - A -, remove the intermediate shaft to mounting bracket bolts - arrows - and pull off from the stub shaft.
Continuation for All Vehicles
- Place an appropriate receptacle underneath the transmission.
- Remove the stub/flange shaft bolt - arrow -.
- Remove the stub or flange shaft together with the compression spring.
- Pry out the seal.
Installing
- Lightly oil the new seal on the outer circumference.
- Fill the area between the sealing lip and dust lip halfway with sealing grease (G 052 128).
- Using (3377), drive the new seal in until seated, be sure not to distort the seal.
- Instal the stub or flange shaft.
- Install the new bolt and tighten it to 30 Nm.
Vehicles With a Intermediate Shaft
- Replace the O-ring on the stub shaft.
- Grease the splines on the stub shaft using grease for clutch disc splines (G 000 100).
- Guide the intermediate shaft - B - through the mounting bracket - C - onto the transmission stub shaft.
- Tighten the intermediate shaft to mounting bracket bolts - arrows -.
Continued for all vehicles
- Install the right drive axle.
- Install the right wheel.
- Change the Direct Shift Gearbox oil. Refer to => [ Oil Filter and Oil Level, Changing and Adjusting ] Testing and Inspection.
- Install the noise insulation.
