Fluid Filter - ASMT: Service and Repair

Oil Filter, Changing and Oil Level, Adjusting - 02E, 6 Speed DSG A/T FWD
This section shows how to change the oil and filter together.

If the old filter remains in the transmission, observe information on oil.

Short Description
First, oil temperature will be read out. If it is higher than 50°C, let the transmission cool down. Remove the overflow tube and drain the oil. Then reinstall the overflow tube and overfill the transmission. Start the engine and drain the excess oil long enough until the oil level reaches the overflow tube.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ VAS 5051
^ Adapter for oil filling VAS 6262
^ Old oil collecting and extracting device V.A.G 1782 or
^ Drip tray V.A.G 1306
^ Torque wrench V.A.G 1331

The oil is available as a replacement part.

Requirements
^ Engine off
^ Vehicle in horizontal position, all hoist supports at same height.
^ Noise insulation tray removed, if equipped
^ Selector level at "P"
^ VAS 5051 is connected
^ To begin working, the oil temperature should not be higher than 50°C.

Up to transmission production date "September 20, 2004", transmissions with two plugs were installed.

It is important to not switch the plugs. Only remove -A- for oil change near pendulum support

Transmissions installed after September 20, 2004, that is, that are newer have only one plug -A-.

- Always replace sealing ring -arrow-.
- Follow the sequence of each of the following instructions until the oil change is completed.
- Connect VAS tester and identify vehicle in Guided Functions.
- Direct Shift Transmission
- Check Oil Level
- Engine off - do not start!

Only start engine when requested to do so. Not right now.

- Place drip tray V.A.G 1306 underneath transmission.
- Connect VW Tester and press Check Oil Level in Guided Functions.

- Slowly remove filter housing.
- Before removing filter housing from transmission, tip it slightly in its seating.

This allows oil to flow back into transmission from filter housing.

- After you have inserted filter with - shoulder - downward, tighten housing to 20 Nm.
- Raise vehicle.
- Remove noise insulation tray.
- Place used oil collection and extraction device V.A.G 1782 or drip tray V.A.G 1306 under the transmission.

- Remove inspection plug near pendulum support -arrow-.

A black plastic overflow tube is located in this hole (8 mm hex socket head, tightening specification: 3 Nm).

- Remove this oil tube.

About 5 liters of oil will drain.

- Reinstall overflow tube, 3 Nm.

- Install adapter -A- from VAS 6262 hand-tight in inspection hole.

Shake oil containers before opening.

- Fill with 5.5 liters of DSG oil.

To change bottles, shut-off valve can be closed or oil filler adapter VAS 6262 can be held higher than the transmission.

- Move through VAS 5051 until DSG oil temperature is displayed.
- Now start engine.
- Press brake and shift into each selector lever position for approximately 3 seconds. Place lever in position "P" again.

Do not switch off engine!

With an oil temperature of 35° to 45°C:
- disconnect the quick-release coupling of the adapter for oil filling VAS 6262 with the engine running.
- Let excess oil drain.

- As soon as the oil has run out (it begins to drip), unscrew the adapter for oil filling VAS 6262 and install plug with new seal.

Tightening Specifications 45 Nm
- Turn off engine.

Drained oil must not be used to fill again.

Dispose of oil in an appropriate manner.

This completes changing oil and filter.

Oil level in transmission is correctly adjusted.
- Install noise insulation tray.
