HID Headlamps and Cornering Lamp (AFS) Overview






1 Left Parking Lamp (M1) and Right Parking Lamp (M3)

Lamp 12V, BLUE W 5 W

Replacing, refer to => [ Parking Lamps Bulbs ] Parking Lamps Bulbs.

2 Lamp Socket

For parking lamp.

With the wiring harness

3 Left High-intensity Gas Discharge Lamp Control Module (J343) and Right High-intensity Gas Discharge Lamp Control Module (J344) Mounting Bolts

1 Nm

Tightening specifications overview, refer to => [ Headlamp, Tightening Specifications ] Headlamp, Tightening Specifications.

4 Left Cornering Lamp (L148) or Right Cornering Lamp (L149)

Is also called static cornering lamp.

Provides better illumination on tight curves (curve radius < 500 m) or when turning at vehicle speeds under 50 km/h.

H8 12V, 35 W bulb

Replacing, refer to => [ Cornering Light Bulb ] Cornering Light Bulb.

Checking, refer to => [ Vehicle Electrical System Control Module (J519), Through 05.2009 ] Vehicle Electrical System Control Module (J519), Through 05.2009.

5 Headlamp Housing Mounting Bolt

2.5 Nm

6 Left Headlamp Power Output Stage (J667) or Right Headlamp Power Output Stage (J668)

Is attached to the housing cover => [ (Item 7) Housing Cover ].

After installing a new headlamp power output stage, Headlamp Range/Cornering Lamp Control Module (J745) must be coded. Refer to => [ Headlamp Power Output Stages, Coding ] Headlamp Power Output Stages, Coding and then basic headlamp setting performed.

7 Housing Cover

The housing cover also serves to secure the headlamp power output module.

For Left High Intensity Gas Discharge (HID) Lamp (L13) or Right High Intensity Gas Discharge (HID) Lamp (L14) (Bi-Xenon).

For Left Headlamp Beam Adjustment Motor (V48) and Right Headlamp Beam Adjustment Motor (V49).

With seal.

- Check the seal for damage.

- Replace the housing cover if damaged.

8 Retaining Bracket

For housing cover => [ (Item 7) Housing Cover ].

9 Wire For Gas-Discharge Lamp

Between Left High Intensity Gas Discharge (HID) Lamp (L13) or Right High Intensity Gas Discharge (HID) Lamp (L14) and Left High-intensity Gas Discharge Lamp Control Module (J343) or Right High-intensity Gas Discharge Lamp Control Module (J344).

10 Screws

For Left Headlamp Beam Adjustment Motor (V48) and Right Headlamp Beam Adjustment Motor (V49).

1 Nm

11 Left Headlamp Beam Adjustment Motor (V48) and Right Headlamp Beam Adjustment Motor (V49)

12 Left High Intensity Gas Discharge (HID) Lamp (L13) or Right High Intensity Gas Discharge (HID) Lamp (L14) (Bi-Xenon)

Type D1S, 35 W

13 Screws

For Left Headlamp Power Output Stage (J667) or Right Headlamp Power Output Stage (J668).

14 Left High-intensity Gas Discharge Lamp Control Module (J343) and Right High-intensity Gas Discharge Lamp Control Module (J344)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Headlamp Control Module ] Headlamp Control Module.

15 Headlamp Housing

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Headlamp Housing ] Headlamp Housing.

Correcting installation position of headlamp, refer to => [ Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position ] Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position.

16 Bi-Xenon DBL Module

Dynamic bending light module makes it possible to swivel the low and high beams at vehicle speeds above 10km/h and a steering angle.

The following components are contained in the module:

Left Dynamic Cornering Light Motor (V318) or Right Dynamic Cornering Light Motor (V319). Refer to => [ HID Dynamic Cornering Lamp Motor ] HID Dynamic Cornering Lamp Motor.

Carries out horizontal DBL module swiveling

Left low beam headlamp reflector motor (V294) or Right low beam headlamp reflector motor (V295). Refer to => [ HID Low Beam Reflector Motor ] HID Low Beam Reflector Motor.

This electro-mechanical adjuster opens the dimmed region of the low beam, for instance when the high beam function is activated, and thus a high beam light emission results.

Left Swivel Module Position Sensor (G474) or Right Swivel Module Position Sensor (G475). Refer to => [ HID Swivel Module Position Sensor ] HID Swivel Module Position Sensor.

Detects DBL module swiveling angle.

17 Adjustment Bushings

Correcting installation position of headlamp, refer to => [ Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position ] Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position.

18 Lower Mounting Bolts

3.5 Nm

19 Left Front Turn Signal Light (M5) and Right Front Turn Signal Light (M7)

12V, P 27/7 bulb, with designation 3457 AK

Replacing, refer to => [ Front Turn Signal Bulbs ] Front Turn Signal Bulbs.

20 Lamp Socket

For turn signal light.

21 Housing Cover

Left Front Turn Signal Light (M5) and Right Front Turn Signal Light (M7).

Left Parking Lamp (M1) and Right Parking Lamp (M3).

With seal.

- Check the seal for damage.

- Replace the housing cover if damaged.

22 Housing Cover

For Left Cornering Lamp (L148) or Right Cornering Lamp (L149).

With seal

- Check the seal for damage.

- Replace the housing cover if damaged.
