M-Segment (1) fasteners (5) may not be fully seated.

Service





^ Lower rear headliner. See Repair Manual Group 61 Convertible Top, Tensioned Headliner





^ Remove headliner support (qty. 5 fasteners).





^ Check M-Segment fasteners (qty. 6, 3 per side), shims and washers for movement.

^ For each fastener that shims and washers are loose, remove fastener and inspect threads for damage. Replace any damaged fasteners.

^ Apply Locking Fluid Part No. D000600A2 to threads and tighten fastener to 7 ft. lbs. (9.5 NM).





Removing Middle and Rear Fasteners

To remove the middle and rear fasteners place roof in service position shown. Use special tool Part No: VAS6365, Hinge Supports -arrow-.

^ Prepare hinge supports by pinning them in the fully extended position.

^ Open roof with Convertible Top Operation Switch -E137- until it is just before the position shown.

^ Place hinge supports in mounting holes of main hinge.

^ Switch ignition off, roof lowers in stages until longmembers are resting on supports.
