Instrument Cluster, Incorrect Adaptation when using Brand CD 10.76 (U.S. ONLY)
Incorrect instrument cluster adaptation software has been identified in Brand CD 10.76.
Note:
Following this procedure as outlined will have no adverse effect on the odometer.
Until this issue has been corrected on Brand CD 10.77.01 for the Passat, Eos, and GTI and on Brand CD 11.78.00 for the Jetta, please follow service procedure below when adapting instrument cluster to vehicle.
Technical Background
Scan tool software adapts incorrect mileage when using Guided Fault Finding (GFF) on an instrument cluster coded to miles.
To correctly adapt the new instrument cluster:
1. Change/code the old instrument cluster to Kilometers.
2. Run the GFF Function test to replace the Instrument cluster.
3. Change/code the New Instrument cluster from kilometers back to miles.

Procedure
^ Select Guided Fault Finding.
^ Press the Go To button and select Function / Component Selection.
For Jetta, New Beetle, Rabbit and GTI:
^ Select Body.
^ Select Electrical System.
^ Select 01 Self Diagnosis.
^ Select 17 Instrument cluster.
^ Select Functions
^ Select On Board Diagnostic (OBD) Functions
^ Select Coding.
For Passat, Eos and Touareg:
^ Select Chassis.
^ Select Electrical System.
^ Select 01 System capable of self diagnosis.
^ Select Instrument cluster.
^ Select Functions of Instrument panel insert.
^ Select code instrument cluster.
^ Select Coding procedure to re-code original instrument cluster to -3-
Canada (CDN).
Note:
Once coding is completed, verify odometer displays kilometers before
continuing with replacement procedure.
Now that the instrument cluster has been coded to kilometers:
^ Perform GFF procedure for replacement of instrument cluster.
Tip:
Test plan will adapt total driven distance and service interval reading automatically.
For all models except Passat and Touareg:
^ Complete the immobilizer adaptation procedure.
For Passat and Touareg Only:
^ Proceed directly to re-coding instrument cluster.
Re-coding
To code the instrument cluster back to mileage, repeat the above procedure:
^ Select Coding procedure to re-code new instrument cluster and change country version to -2- U.S.A.
Once coding is complete:
^ Verify odometer displays in miles.
