Malfunctions displayed by the ABS Warning Lamp K47, Brake System Warning Lamp K118 and ASR/ESP Control Lamp K155 ABS/EDL/ASR/ESP Mark 60, Vehicles from 10.00
Warning lights
Note:
^ The ASR/ESP Control Lamp K155 is used by the ABS/EDL/ASR and ABS/EDL/ASR/ESP brake system.
^ In vehicles without ABS/ASR or ASR/ESP, the ASR/ESP Control Lamp K155 is not installed.
Brake pad/lining warning lamp K32
^ If the Brake Pad Wear Indicator Lamp K32 for brake pad/lining - 1 - does not go out after ignition and after ending the test sequence, or if it goes on when driving, the causes of the malfunction could be:
a - The brake pads can be worn out
Check front and rear brake pads brake pads front and rear: Check thickness
- b - a malfunction in the activation of the Brake Pad Wear Indicator Lamp K32 for brake pad/lining
For vehicles with a display in the instrument cluster, the information text is:
"CHECK BRAKE PAD/LINING"
ABS warning lamp K47
^ If the ABS warning lamp K47 - 1 - does not go out after ignition is switched off and test sequence is completed, then the malfunction may be:
a - Voltage supply is below 10 Volt.
b - There is a malfunction in the ABS.
The anti-lock brake system remains switched off with an ABS malfunction -b-, but the brake system remains fully operational.
c - Since the last time the vehicle was started there was a temporary speed sensor malfunction.
In the case of a sensor malfunction -c-, the ABS warning lamp K47 goes out automatically after restarting the engine and attaining a speed of above 20 km/h (approximately 13 mph).
d - The connection from the instrument cluster to the ABS control module J104 has been interrupted.
e - Instrument cluster is faulty.
ABS Warning Lamp K47 and Brake system warning lamp K118
^ If the ABS warning lamp K47 - 1 - goes out but the Brake system warning lamp K118 - 2 - stays on while the parking brake is released and 3 warning sounds are heard, then the causes of the malfunction could be:
a - Brake fluid level is too low.
b - A malfunction occurred in the activation of the Brake system warning lamp K118
^ If the ABS warning lamp K47 - 1 - and the Brake system warning lamp K118 - 2 - are on, the ABS system is faulty and the EBA (Engine Braking Assist) (if equipped) has failed.
^ If the Warning light for ABS K47 - 1 - and the Brake system warning lamp K118 - 2 - only lights up after reaching 10 km/h or 2000 rpm and 3 warning sounds are heard, then the ABS system and the EBA (Engine Braking Assist) (if equipped) has failed.
CAUTION: After the ABS warning lamp K47 and the Brake system warning lamp K118 have lighted up, it is possible that the rear wheels will lock up earlier.
ASR/ESP Control Lamp K155
^ If the ASR/ESP Control Lamp K155 - 3 - does not go out after the ignition has been switched on and after the test sequence has been carried out, the causes of the malfunction could be:
A malfunction that only involves the ASR/ESP. The ABS/EDL and EBA safety systems of the vehicle remain fully functional.
a - Short to positive in ASR/ESP button E256.
b - There is a malfunction in the activation of the stabilization program ASR/ESP Control Lamp K155.
