Auxiliary Input / Output Jack: Testing and Inspection






USB Connection Baseplate (R193), Troubleshooting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hand-Held Multimeter (V.A.G 1526C)

Connector Test Kit (V.A.G 1594C)

The USB connection is not capable of On Board Diagnostics (OBD).

The voltage supply can be checked at the connector.

Test Conditions

USB memory stick/MP3 player OK, refer to the Operating Instructions.

Fuse OK.

Radio/Radio Navigation System no faults displayed using the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051B)

Procedure

- Remove the USB connection baseplate. Refer to => [ USB Connection Baseplate ] USB Connection Baseplate (R193).

- Disconnect the connector under the USB connection baseplate.

- Switch on the radio.

- Measure the voltage between contacts 3 and 6 as well as between contacts 3 and 8 on the wiring harness connector using (V.A.G 1526C ) and the cables from the (V.A.G 1594C).

Specified value: approximately 12 V.

- Switch radio off.

Voltage values not OK:

- Check the wire connections between the radio and the USB connection baseplate according to the wiring diagram.

Voltage values OK:

- Replace the USB connection baseplate.
