Parking Brake Cable: Service and Repair
Parking Brake Cable, through MY 2007
Removing
- Release the parking brake.
- Remove the center console.
- Loosen the adjustment nut - 1 - far enough until the respective cable - 2 - can be removed from the compensator bracket - 3 -.
- Pry off the spring clip - 1 -.
- Press the lever on the brake caliper - 2 - in - direction of arrow - and disengage the brake cable - 3 -.
- Remove the Torx bolt - 1 - and then loosen the clip from the parking brake cable - 2 -.
- Disengage the parking brake cable from the bracket - 1 - and pull the hand brake cable end out of the guide tube - 2 -.
Installing
- Slide the parking brake cable into the guide tube - 2 - and engage it in the bracket - 1 -.
- Press the lever on the brake caliper - 2 - in - direction of arrow - and hook in the brake cable - 3 -.
- Press the spring clip - 1 - onto the parking brake cable.
Parking brake cable - 2 - must be installed free of tension between the bracket on the brake caliper and clip.
- Therefore, only now install the clip bolt - 1 - onto the trailing arm.
- Install the parking brake cable - 2 - into the compensator bracket - 3 -.
- Preload the parking brake cable using the adjustment nut - 1 -.
- Adjust the parking brake. Refer to => [ Parking Brake, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
