Instrument Panel, Removing And Installing
Removing
- Disconnect vehicle battery.
- Remove driver-side airbag unit.
- Remove steering wheel.
- Remove side instrument panel covers.
- Remove upper trim on A-pillars.
- Remove center cover.
- Remove glove compartment.
- Remove center console:
- Front center console without adjustable/folding armrest with storage compartment.
- Front center console with adjustable/folding armrest with storage compartment.
- Remove instrument panel center vent.
- Vehicles without Climatronic.
- Vehicles with Climatronic.
- Remove instrument panel center trim.
Vehicles with radio system
- Remove radio
Vehicles with Navigation
- Remove Navigation display and control head.
Vehicles with Climatic or Climatronic
- Remove Climatic or Climatronic mechanism.
Vehicles with heating
- Remove heating mechanism.
- Remove steering column trim.
- Remove Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module J527.
- Remove Airbag Spiral Spring/Return Spring With Slip Ring F138.
- Remove Steering Angle Sensor G85.
- Remove Turn Signal Switch E2.
- Remove Windshield Wiper Switch E.
- Remove right trim panel on drivers side.
- Remove left trim panel on drivers side.
- Remove instrument cluster.
- Remove drivers side footwell cover.
- Remove two bolts - 1 - (9 Nm) from front passenger airbag.
- Disconnect wiring harness from front passengers side airbag.
- Remove bolt - 2 - (3 Nm).
- Remove bolts - 3 - and - 4 - (3 Nm).
- Remove bolt - 1 - (3 Nm).
- Remove two screws - 2 - (8 Nm) above tunnel.
- Remove bolts - 1 -, - 2 - and - 3 - (3 Nm).
- Pull instrument panel out of mounts - 1 - in windshield transition area.
- Depending on vehicle equipment, disconnect the corresponding wiring harnesses and remove instrument panel from vehicle with a second mechanic.
NOTE: When installing instrument panel, make sure that instrument panel is placed with exact fit into mounts - 1 -.
Installing
- Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
