The components A, B and C are not shown on the illustration.

A Brake pedal switch -F47- or Brake light switch -F-
- Together in one housing in footwell
B Throttle Position (TP) sensor -G79- and Sender 2 for accelerator pedal position -G185-
- In footwell at accelerator pedal
C Clutch pedal switch -F36-
- In footwell







1. Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) canister purge regulator valve -N80-
- EVAP system, servicing
2. Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor -G40-
- In cylinder head cover
- Controlled by engine control module
3. Intake manifold
4. Throttle valve control module -J338-
- When replacing, adapt (match) engine control module to throttle valve control module, adapting components
- 6-pin connector
- Gold plated contacts
5. Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) heating element -N79- -
- For crankcase breather
6. Secondary Air Injection (AIR) solenoid valve -N112-
7. 81-pin connector
- Only disconnect or connect with ignition switched off
- Release to disconnect
8. Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) -J220-
- On replacement, control module must be matched to electronic immobilizer, adapting components
- Installed location: In plenum chamber
9. 40-pin connector
- Only disconnect or connect with ignition switched off
10. Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor -G70- with Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor -G42-
- Gold plated contacts
11. Protective housing for relays
- Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump relay -J299-
- Motronic ECM power supply relay -J271-
- Relay assignment in protective housing, see Fig. 1
12. Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor -G62-
- Green
- For engine control module
- Gold plated contacts
- Release pressure in coolant system if necessary before removing components
13. Air cleaner
14. Protective housing
- For supplementary fuses
15. Ignition coils with final output stages -N70-, -N127-, -N291-, -N292-
16. Engine speed (RPM) sensor -G28-
- Torque setting 10 Nm
17. Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump motor -V101-

- Engine codes: AVH, AZG: Air shrouded
- Engine code: BEV: Not air shrouded
- Checking quantity injected and for leaks
19. Knock Sensor (KS) 2 -G66-
- Location: Cylinder block intake side
- Next to ignition transformer
- Black, 2-pin
- Gold plated contacts
- Mark connector before removing
20. Knock Sensor (KS) 1 -G61-
- Location: Cylinder block intake side
- Black, 2-pin
- Gold plated contacts
- Mark connector before removing
- Torque setting.
21. 4-pin connector
- Brown
- Connector contacts 3 and 4 are gold plated
- For Oxygen Sensor (O2S) Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) -G130- and Oxygen Sensor (O2S) heater 1 behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) -Z29-
- Location: On right on underside of vehicle, see Fig. 3
22. Oxygen Sensor (O2S) Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) -G130-, 50 Nm
- Installed location: In rear of catalytic converter
- Remove and install with 3777
- When replacing erase Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory
23. 6-pin connector
- Black for Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) -G39- and Oxygen Sensor (O2S) heater -Z19-
- Gold plated contacts
- Installed location: On right on underside of vehicle, see Fig. 2
24. Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) -G39-, 50 Nm
- Installed location: In exhaust manifold
- Remove and install with 3777
- When replacing erase Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory
25. Fuel pressure regulator
- Checking fuel pressure regular and holding pressure

NOTE:
- The relay locations may differ depending on level of equipment.
- For latest control numbers and installed locations:
- Disconnect battery Ground strap first if tools are required to pull relays or control modules out of the relay plate.
- Before disconnecting the battery Ground strap obtain code for radios with anti-theft coding.
